Join our Festival Explorer Dr. Niamh Shaw as she shares her stories of exploration, some of the exciting things happening in space right now and how we can train our bodies to be ready for the day when we will get to explore the Universe for ourselves. What is space like? What does it feel like in our bodies?

As part of our Family Explorer Series exploring real-life explorers from the Stars to the Sea and from the Zoo to your Garden.

About Dr. Niamh Shaw

Dr Niamh Shaw is an engineer, scientist, artist and communicator and one of Ireland’s leading Space explorers.  She is passionate about igniting peoples curiosity and particularly interested in doing this by combining creativity with science topics. She presents the human story of science, creating theatre shows, public events and contributions to media with this focus. She is artist in residence at CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory, Humanities co-chair at 2018 Space Studies Programme, and the Dublin point of contact for Ireland’s national Space week. Her newest theatre piece ‘Diary of a Martian Beekeeper’ funded under SFI’s 2017 Discover programme, working closely with ESA’s Astronaut Centre in Cologne premiered as part of Space Week 2017 and tours internationally in 2019/2020.
