Get hands-on with Technology & Textiles in an online fashion-futures workshop for teenagers.

Join Rebecca Marsden for an online workshop exploring technology & textiles. Discover how to upcycle accessories for school bags and key chains by getting hands-on using fiber optics and heat fused fibers that will amplify shimmering LED lights.

As part of a series of fashion futures workshops at Science Week 2020 with Rebecca Marsden.


  • Your ticket will include a workshop kit that you will receive in the post prior to the event.
  • In addition to the workshop kit, you will also need the following items:
    • 3v coin cell batteries x2 needed
    • Super Glue or a Glue Gun
    • A scissors
    • An iron
    • Cardboard (approx a5 size)
  • This workshop is for ages 13+ and an accompanying adult must be in attendance throughout the workshop.

About Rebecca Marsden

Rebecca Marsden is a graduate of the Royal college of Art specialising in Fashion knitwear. Following on from her MA she was selected for the Santoni Pioneer program in Shanghai to further develop her knowledge and understanding of circular and seamless knitting applications.  In recent years Rebecca has worked in an educational capacity, lecturing in Textiles, Fashion and Design.  Her own label has received the ‘IDI’ Award 2016 for Fashion Design, Nissan Brand Ambassador for ‘Generation NeXt’ 2015-2017 ‘Designer of the Year’ and overall ‘Innovation Award’ at the Irish Fashion Innovation.

Science Week is a week-long event in Ireland each November, celebrating science in our everyday lives.
