ALSOS

Enter into a fantastic forest, with a flashlight. Alsos is an interactive sound installation that explores technology and nature.

Presented in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland, Alsos is an interactive installation that was born with the idea to link nature and technology. Created by Gregory Lasserre and Anais met den Ancxt, two French artists who work together as a duo under the name Scenocosme. The audience can interact with a world of sound that’s ready to awaken.

The audience explores the space with the light from their smartphone. They illuminate the fluorescent flowers within the forest clearing and hear as each flower reacts with different sounds. The pitch of the sound is evolving according to the intensity of the lights. Each flower has a light sensor in it’s pistil. The gestures and the movements of the spectators generate sound effects. The universe of sound within the forest clearing awakens.

The artwork was born from the idea of exploring the relationship between the living world and technology: a possible hybridization with a digital plant.

About the Artists

Gregory Lasserre and Anais met den Ancxt are two artists who work together as a duo under the name Scenocosme. They develop the concept of interactivity in their artworks by using multiple kinds of expression: art, technology, sounds, and architecture. They mix art and digital technology in order to find substances of dreams, poetries, sensitivities, and delicacies. They also explore invisible relationships with our environment: they can feel energetic variations of living beings. They design interactive artworks, and choreographic collective performances, in which spectators share extraordinary sensory experiences.
