Fashion Upcycling! 'Shape-shifting' materials

Join us for an online workshop with Rebecca Marsden & discover how to change the texture of fabrics.

In this workshop, learn an old Japanese technique using steam to create exciting futuristic 3D textiles. This is a perfect project to upcycle old scarves, masks, headbands & tops.

Materials Needed

These are the materials you will need to follow along with this workshop.
  • Synthetic fabrics- These can be up-cycled polyester linings or found materials 
  • Marbles & Coins
  • Chopsticks, wooden dowel, or similar
  • Needle and Thread
  • String
  • Colander
  • Saucepan
  • Scissors
  • Access to a kettle and cooker

About Rebecca Marsden

Rebecca Marsden is a graduate of the Royal College of Art specialising in Fashion knitwear. Following on from her MA she was selected for the Santoni Pioneer program in Shanghai to further develop her knowledge and understanding of circular and seamless knitting applications.  In recent years Rebecca has worked in an educational capacity, lecturing in Textiles, Fashion and Design.  Her own label has received the ‘IDI’ Award 2016 for Fashion Design, Nissan Brand Ambassador for ‘Generation NeXt’ 2015-2017 ‘Designer of the Year’ and overall ‘Innovation Award’ at the Irish Fashion Innovation.
